Remains of the Day (PRINT)

Animal bones are not an uncommon sight along the McKenzie River. Once stripped of flesh and washed clean by the current, they take on a delicate, almost translucent quality in the sunlight, especially against the rich copper of the earth and the deep blue of the water.

Remains of the Day explores the river’s simultaneous capacity to give and take life. In nature, creation and decay exist side by side, each part of an ongoing cycle.
What remains may serve as a reminder that all life eventually ends, yet even in that ending
there can be beauty. The bones, weathered and transformed by water and time, become
something more than evidence of loss. They become part of the landscape - a quiet testament to impermanence, renewal, and the enduring beauty of what remains.
