Collection: Anton Yukashev

Anton Yakushev is an internationally recognized sculptor and master blacksmith based in Bend, Oregon. Originally from Russia, Yakushev combines traditional forging techniques with contemporary sculptural design to create works that blur the line between mechanical engineering and living form. His sculptures—ranging from monumental insects and animals to mythic figures and abstract forms—are celebrated for their intricate craftsmanship, expressive movement, and narrative depth.

Yakushev’s work has been exhibited internationally and is held in both private and institutional collections, including the National Ornamental Metal Museum in Memphis, Tennessee. Known for his collaborative projects with the Central Oregon Metal Arts Guild (COMAG), he has become a leading figure in contemporary forged metal sculpture.

Severyanin (“Of the North”), the monumental praying mantis sculpture featured here, was designed by Yakushev and collaboratively forged with COMAG artists during a multi-day workshop in Bend, Oregon.
