Divergent (ORIGINAL)

Sometimes a single rock in the river, positioned and anchored in just the right place, can divide the current by the smallest degree. Given enough time, that subtle split can become something much greater. I discovered this again and again over the years I floated the McKenzie River. A single rock or fallen branch could create a barely perceptible shift in the river’s course, yet as water levels rose and fell, those small deviations could grow into profound changes. What began as a subtle divergence could ultimately reshape the river itself. The river, like life, is ever-changing - even when, from the surface, it appears to remain the same.

Divergent explores what the river taught me: to accept change, both subtle and profound; to let old structures loosen and slip away with the current; and to trust that, in time, reshaping will occur. There is beauty in that surrender, in allowing change to become not an ending, but a new direction.
