There are magical, almost fantastical plants that emerge not only along the banks of the
McKenzie River, but from the water itself. The reeds featured in Blade Runner stretched several feet across the surface, weaving together into an intricate web of plant matter that seemed to float between two worlds.
This floating network became its own miniature ecosystem. Tiny insects traversed the reeds from one end to the other, while an exhausted fly could find temporary refuge among the slender blades. Beneath the surface, another world was quietly unfolding - an equally vibrant ecosystem where fish and aquatic insects moved through the cool, shaded shelter created by the plants above.
Blade Runner invites us to look closely at these small, interconnected worlds and consider how much life exists within what might otherwise appear to be a simple patch of reeds floating on the river.
