When exploring the banks and shallows of the McKenzie River, it becomes clear that nature is the true artist. The abundance of color, shape, shadow, and form beneath the surface can feel as vast and intricate as the universe itself.
A River Runs Through Us captures a glimpse of that hidden world - a gathering of plants,
creatures, rocks, and weathered wood collected in a shallow pool nestled along the banks of Copper Pot Cove at Cottonwood Wilson Island on the McKenzie River. It was an idyllic place to paddle into, drift quietly, and linger for a while on a summertime float. Beneath the water’s surface, the river bottom becomes its own mesmerizing landscape, a world of shifting light, texture, color, and form. The longer you look, the more there is to
discover.
