Shlomo Alter,
"Tableside View"
Shlomo Alter (1936), "Tableside View"
LIMITED EDITION Seriolithograph that is Hand Signed by Alter. Measures Approx: 10.00 X 13.00 inches.
He was born in Romania to a family of restaurateurs. Hs natural artistic gifts were apparent at an early age. He immigrated to Israel in 1948 and during high school he started to study painting under the well-known artist Aaron Avni. Some of his early works appeared in UNICEF’S world touring exhibition of young artists. In 1959 he left the army as a lieutenant, got married and embarked upon a successful career in computers. During this period the world famous painter Marcel Janco sporadically guided him in his painting. He also had the unique opportunity many times to visit the art capitals of Europe. In 1975 he left the computer industry in order to dedicate himself entirely to his art. Altar’s works are influenced by his early recollections of the well-dressed people who gathered in the courtyard of his parent’s restaurant in Bucharest to eat and drink, to dance of Gypsy bands, and to enjoy the convivial atmosphere. With a touch of optimism and good humor Altar’s art reflects life at its core, an antithesis to the Nazi regime that shattered his childhood happiness. His paintings are like stage set on which the objects relate to each other through a glow of colors and lines – a frozen moment in time, a dynamic stillness prior to a burst of action. His style can best be compared to that of the Expressionists. He uses color to give direct expression to his ideas in influence by the famous, particularly Matisse and Duty. Alter is a versatile artist who works in many media including ink drawings, gouaches, watercolors, oils, silk screens, painted sculptures, and most recently, computer graphics. Regardless of the medium, his unique vision and personality come through in each and every one of his artworks. Alter has held many one – man shows and taken part in numerous group exhibitions throughout the world. His works are included in many important private and corporate collections.

Victor Vasarely (1908-1997), "The Golfer", 1975
Serigraph on Arches Paper, edition of 300, Signed by Artist in LL. Measures 14.5” x 18”, image 13" x 17"
Hungarian-born Victor Vasarely is known as a founder of optical art. He studied at the Bauhaus Muhely in Budapest and in 1930 emigrated to Paris where he developed his particular vision which stems from the idea of democratizing the art object. Influenced greatly by the problems of the world's cities, he feels his work offers a solution by presenting a clear view of the "color-surface-perception" relationship. He has used the income from the sale of these "investigations," as he calls his prints, to establish a socio-cultural foundation in Aix-en-Provence, France, for the study of the integration of plastic beauty at all levels of the urban environment. He is represented in major museums all over the world and has received many artistic and honorary awards. Among these distinctions are the French Legion of Honor, the Guggenheim Prize, and the Gold Medal of the Triennale in Milan
Alain Bonnefoit,
"Lying nude on blue"
Alain Bonnefoit (1937), "Lying nude on blue"
1976 Original stone lithograph on paper signed in LR and numbered 80/155 in LL. Image measures approximately 22.5” x 15.5” (65 x 49 cm) or framed 34” x 22”.
Born in Montmartre in 1937, Alain BONNEFOIT studied at the School of Applied Arts in 1953 and from 1959 to 1960 in the Fine Arts School of Paris, at the "Engraving and Sculpture" department of the Fine Arts School of Brussels. Back in Paris in 1962, he studied under Volti with whom he established a close working relationship, the start of a loyal friendship. His artistic life took him to Tuscany where he discovered the beauty of its landscapes. He then started to work on the female nude, which, from 1965, became his favourite form of expression. Called the "Painter of Venus" by writer Hervé Bazin, Alain Bonnefoit enchants us with his art, conjuring up dreams, sensuality and eroticism. Never falling into vulgarity, his work is dedicated to woman and her curves. For this highly talented artist - he is a drawer, painter, engraver, lithographer and sculptor - eroticism is above all refinement and sensuality, a state of mind and a way of life.
