Beautify watercolor of two enchanting Australian mermaids in aged wooden frame. Image 11”x8” purchased from artist with photo of artist and COA. Originally purchased in Australia January 2002. Framed size 17”x14”.

Jordana has recently gained considerable notoriety from her “ethereal-ity” Book. Her work is also in the person collection of Britany Speers and appears on a recent cd as cover art for “Britany.”
“This piece marks my first step in experimenting with watercolours. It is also my first depiction of mermaids. Also up until this point I had only depicted single figures in my work. “Mermaids’ therefore marks another change. This painting is an attempt to depict an ethereal realm. Mermaids in the watery depths are they there just out of reach …. Or not?” Jordana choose the frame stating, “In framing I have chosen not to use a matt board so as not to further define an area. As far as possible I want the mermaids to float within the frame.

Jordana Archer (1972) Australia, “Mermaid Smile”

Born in India in 1972 Jordana Archer settled with her family in Australia in 1974. She attended Sydney University where she did a Fine Arts Degree. In 1998 she decided to make art her full time career.

“This pastel was inspired by a song I have always liked the idea of her smile being hidden from the viewer, but her happiness is indicated by the curve of her tail and the position she sits in.

In framing her I have chosen a blue matt board to pick up the colors in the mermaid’s tail and so help to draw the eye inwards as the artwork itself has no definitive background.”

Jordana has made her living as an artist for nearly seven years and works from her home-based studio in the Blue Mountains. She has exhibited in both the Blue Mountains and Sydney and has also applied her skills in corporate logo work and in the 2001 CD
