Luis Vidal Molne (1907-1970) Spain, "Pesce", Gouche on Paper

Spanish school, Molne was a Painter and Illustrator. He is noted for his compositions, figures, scenes of nature, and still lifes. He was born in Barcelona in 1907, and died with Monaco in 1970. He studied art in school in Spain and then went to France in 1939 to continue his studies and fixed gain exposure for works. He had a number of shows of his work in Paris and in Sweden. Fruitfulness is perhaps the first quality of this artist. Its facility to be painted made think of the virtuosity of one It Washed and also of the of Provence Andre Marchand, pretence to want to put sometimes, without thinking of evil, Picasso with the range of all. Andry Farcy speaks in this connection about Iberian expressionnism.
He illustrated many works. Molne carried out a mural at the train station in Monaco. It exhibited widely including in Monte Carlo, Paris, Nice, London, the United States and Italy.”

"I try to capture the beauty and variety of nature in my artwork. The etching medium is a natural for me as I've always liked drawing and detail. The rich colors and textures in etching are a tool to do the hardest thing - to convey feeling and even joy in your art."

Leo Jay (1949) USA, "True Lichenstein"'
Leo Jay (1949), "True Lichtenstein", Gouache, Image 3 1/2" X 3", Framed 16 1/2" X 12 1/4"

Leo Jay was born in 1949 in Southern California. At the age of 6 a barnyard painting of his was chosen for the Los Angeles County Fair where it won a blue ribbon. At age 7 he was expelled from school for wanting to paint -- all day. In the mid '60's he was impressed by works by Roy Lichtenstein, James Rosenquist, Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, Giocometti and Andy Warhol. He felt the artwork was unique in its creative rebellion with/against the established art forms. Attending one of the California State Universities Leo Jay found he could be free in his artistic expression, creating "Docu-Pop" (the creation of a life story through the mixing of a series of documents and visuals that follow an individual through their lives, i.e. birth certificate, chewed up tax form and a drawing of their divorce papers with a dart stuck in it, etc.). He studied under such artists as Janet Turner, Marion Epting and Paul Feldhaus. Leo's works can be found in collections in Japan and the United States, and has been featured Phantasm.
