Leo Jay was born in 1949 in Southern California. At the age of 6 a barnyard painting of his was chosen for the Los Angeles County Fair where it won a blue ribbon. In the mid '60's he was impressed by works by Roy Lichtenstein, James Rosenquist, Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, Giocometti and Andy Warhol. He felt the artwork was unique in its creative rebellion with/against the established art forms. Attending a California State Universities Leo Jay found he could be free in his artistic expression, creating "Docu-Pop" (the creation of a life story through the mixing of a series of documents and visuals that follow an individual through their lives, i.e. birth certificate, chewed up tax form and a drawing of their divorce papers with a dart stuck in it, etc.). He studied under such artists as Janet Turner, Marion Epting and Paul Feldhaus. Leo's works can be found in collections in Japan and the United States, and has been featured Phantasm. |

Robert Clibbon, developed his unique figurative style during a five-year stay in Europe ending in the early seventies. His innovative etchings and watercolors of marine and animal life have been exhibited and collected widely in New England and Florida. Learning printmaking at the Pratt Graphics Center in Manhattan, the artist expanded his creative range, translating his romantic style into large etchings of rich and colorful detail. His current work matches fine line drawing, aquatint tones, and deep-textured soft ground impressions from nature to create a warm and unique style.

“This pastel was inspired by a song I have always liked the idea of her smile being hidden from the viewer, but her happiness is indicated by the curve of her tail and the position she sits in. In framing her I have chosen a blue matt board to pick up the colors in the mermaid’s tail and so help to draw the eye inwards as the artwork itself has no definitive background. ” — Jordana |
